Has Rhythm Biosciences reached an important inflection point?
Rhythm Biosciences is moving beyond research and entering the early stages of commercial execution, with real-world deployment of its cancer diagnostics beginning to take shape.
Rhythm Biosciences Limited (ASX: RHY)
is steadily moving from being a research focused company to a commercial healthcare business and its latest quarterly update clearly announced on 23 January 2026 reflects this shift.
During the December 2025 quarter, the company officially commenced commercialisation of its colorectal cancer blood test ColoSTAT.Β
After completing required validation and securing ISO 15189:2022 accreditation the test is now ready for use by Australian clinicians. This marks the first time in the companyβs history that it is positioned to generate revenue from its core diagnostic product.
The scale of the opportunity is large. Around 800,000 colonoscopies are performed every year in Australia for symptomatic patients yet fewer than 5% actually result in a cancer diagnosis.Β
ColoSTAT helps identify patients who genuinely need urgent follow up while allowing lower-risk patients to safely wait reducing pressure on hospitals and anxiety for patients.
Clinical performance data shared in the quarterly report is also encouraging. Analysis of more than 300 clinical samples showed the sensitivity of 91% for detecting colorectal cancer in higher-risk individuals above 45 years of age. The test performs consistently across all cancer stages from early to advanced disease.
The company strengthened its balance sheet during the quarter. Rhythm received $1.57 million through the R&D tax incentive and fully repaid $1 million loan leaving it debt free.Β
As of 31 December 2025, cash and cash equivalents stood at approximately $1.64 million providing around five quarters of funding runway at current spending levels.
In terms of market performance, the stock has delivered a strong 168.82% return over the past one year reflecting improving investor confidence as the company progresses toward commercial execution.
Beyond ColoSTAT the company continues to build momentum across its geneTypeβ’ platform. A major highlight was the publication of geneTypeβs ovarian cancer risk model validation using Harvard Medical Schoolβs Nursesβ Health Study which included over 275,000 participants. This independent validation strengthens credibility and supports future global partnerships.
Overall, the quarterly update shows clear progress. Rhythm Biosciences is no longer just developing products it is actively deploying them in real world settings supported by the clinical data, regulatory approvals and the more stable financial position. The transition from concept to commercial reality is now visibly underway.
