Carnegie Clean Energy Ltd continued expanding its wave energy and defence sector opportunities through regulatory milestones, international collaborations and aquaculture initiatives while advancing deployment activities for its CETO and MoorPower technologies across renewable maritime and offshore commercial applications.
Carnegie Clean Energy Ltd (ASX: CCE)
Carnegie Clean Energy Ltd (ASX: CCE), on 15 May 2026, announced that its subsidiary, CETO Wave Energy Ireland received a EuropeWave milestone payment of β¬63,688, equal to around AUD$103k. The payment followed approval of two ACHIEVE Programme deliverables linked to the deployment of Carnegieβs CETO technology at the Biscay Marine Energy Platform (BiMEP) in Spain.
The approved milestones included authorisation from Spanish energy and coastal authorities for deployment at the BiMEP site and completion of control software for upcoming power take-off testing. Carnegie stated that receiving these approvals was an important regulatory step before offshore deployment activities later this year.
TEAMER Program Support
On 7 May 2026, the company announced selection for technical support under the U.S. TEAMER program valued at around US$194k, or approximately AUD$270k. The project, titled βDevelopment of a Finfish Array with Distributed WEC Power Integration,β will be completed with US-based Kelson Marine. Activities will focus on integrating Carnegieβs MoorPower wave energy technology with offshore fish pens to reduce diesel usage in aquaculture operations. Funding under the TEAMER program will be provided directly to Kelson Marine for modelling and research work carried out with Carnegie. The company said the project would help improve its capability to design wave-powered energy systems for aquaculture customers globally.
ACHIEVE Programme Progress
For the quarter ended 31 March 2026, Carnegie achieved continued progress across the ACHIEVE Programme with fabrication and manufacturing activities completed for several key components ahead of deployment and offshore operations later in the year. Testing activities at component and subsystem level also continued to validate performance before installation at the BiMEP site. During the quarter, the company received a $568,630 R&D Tax Incentive rebate for FY2025. Carnegie also completed the Blue Economy CRC funded MoorPower preliminary design project and shifted focus toward commercial pilot development with aquaculture stakeholders. The company further engaged with industry groups and international stakeholders to support future commercial opportunities in the blue economy sector.
Defence Sector Activities
Carnegie also continued exploring defence sector opportunities for its wave energy technology during the quarter. CCE engaged with the Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator and attended defence capability forums focused on maritime systems and energy solutions. Carnegie participated in discussions related to persistent surveillance and autonomous maritime systems whereas also attending the 2026 Australian Defence Capability Symposium and other defence policy sessions. Following the quarter, the company attended the Undersea Defence Technology Conference in London to engage with international defence stakeholders. Carnegie stated these activities are aimed at expanding future commercial opportunities for its wave energy technologies across defence and maritime applications.
